José Flores

José concentrates on insect biodiversity projects, including insect collection and identification (especially beetles).

José Flores works as an invertebrate biodiversity technician at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden alongside the terrestrial invertebrate ecologists, concentrating on insect biodiversity projects, including insect collection and identification (especially beetles). He also does mapping work for the Conservation and Research Department. José earned his bachelor’s degree in geography with an emphasis in geographic information science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, focusing on habitat restoration and conservation, especially in riparian ecosystems overrun with invasive plants. 

Research interests: geographic information science, invasive plants and insects, riparian ecology, urban biodiversity, community science, biogeography
